Folk tales are often a reminder of the desire for good within a culture
Generations of children grew up during a time when bedtime was preceded by a story - often a fairy tale.
Many of those well-known and often heard stories were European folk tales collected by the Grimm brothers. Youngsters who may not have heard the stories have seen the popular Disney movies that have been remade time and again.
Priscilla Howe is keeping the storytelling tradition alive as she travels across the U.S. and around the world collecting her own folk tales and also retelling the familiar stories that Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm wrote and rewrote for more than 40 years.
