Fun projects bring young sewers to summer program
When Carol Ann Crouch brings girls together for a summer sewing class the idea is to keep it simple and fun. “We’re not going to make dresses or some other clothing item that’s going to take days and days,” says the Scott County FACS Agent. “I want the girls to take something home they can enjoy and that gives them a sense of accomplishment.
” Along the way, she also hopes they learn the fundamentals that will eventually lead to a bigger project. Megan Trout, 11, was one of the experienced sewers who plans to sew a dress this year as a county fair project. “But it’s fun to make unique things,” says Trout about the sewing class
