Fowler gives young audience a different way to think of state’s past

Singing is a way to bring people together, says Aaron Fowler

It’s also a great way to learn.

“I don’t think we sing enough anymore as a culture. Getting people to sing together is my mission,” says Fowler, who has been a teaching artist since leaving the education profession in 1995. “I believe that if we would sing together we have the ability to change the culture in general, rather than isolating ourselves when we wear ear buds or headphones.”

The traveling musician, who also describes himself as an activist, found an eager audience during a pre-Kansas Day program for students at Scott City Elementary School on Tuesday.
