Scott City forensics earn 3 golds at GWAC festival

The Scott Community High School forensics team earned three gold medals in the Great West Activities Conference championships held at Holcomb.

The SCHS squad had six entries that placed among the top six and finished third as a team.

The duet act performed by Judy Wiebe and Olivia Wagner, titled “The Banality Briefs,” earned the duo a league championship.

“It’s the best duet I’ve had in years,” says coach Summer Ford. “Girl duets don’t typically do well, but these two have put a spin on this that’s gone over well with the judges.”

Wiebe, a sophomore, has been one of the team’s big surprises, says Ford.

“She’s a lot more confident performing in front of judges. I’ve really been impressed with the confidence she has to put herself out there and take risks,” Ford says.

The unusual duet also features singing in between scene changes, which is a chance to showcase Wagner’s voice.
