Family event provided Holstein with winning idea

When her grandparents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, Kennedy Holstein offered to help one of her aunts plan the family celebration.

Little did she realize that it would turn into a lucrative financial decision for the Scott Community High School junior, but possibly be a lifechanging decision as well.

Holstein was recently named top winner at the local level in the Scott City Youth Entrepreneurship competition which qualifies her for the state contest later this spring. She was awarded $1,200 at the local level and is eligible for more cash prizes in the state contest.

Holstein noted she was uncertain about what business career to consider when she enrolled in the class.
