A loss earlier in the day wasn’t enough to deny Alex Rodriguez a championship in the Great West Activities Conference wrestling tournament hosted by Scott City last Friday.
In a game that shouldn’t have been as close as it was, the Scott City boys weren’t able to pull away until the final three minutes in a 57-49 win at Ulysses last Friday.
While the Scott City boys have a tournament title under their belt and are sitting in the No. 10 spot in the Class 3A state rankings, one question has lingered over the Beavers.
While a long season can take its toll on many wrestlers, Matthew Wheeler never seems to have a sub-par tournament.
