There was more than an individual championship on the line when Matthew Wheeler stepped onto the mat in his final match of round-robin competition at the Ron Smith Invitational last Saturday.
Costly turnovers and an inability to keep Hoisington’s guards from driving the paint were a costly combination for the Scott City boys in a season-opening, 62-55, loss on the home floor last Friday.
A wave of momentum carried the Scott Community High School girls to an early lead in their season opener against Hoisington.
