A loss earlier in the day wasn’t enough to deny Alex Rodriguez a championship in the Great West Activities Conference wrestling tournament hosted by Scott City last Friday.
In a game that shouldn’t have been as close as it was, the Scott City boys weren’t able to pull away until the final three minutes in a 57-49 win at Ulysses last Friday.
During an 11 minute stretch on Tuesday night, the Scott City girls were clearly the better team in their Great West Activities Conference showdown with Holcomb.
While the Scott City boys have a tournament title under their belt and are sitting in the No. 10 spot in the Class 3A state rankings, one question has lingered over the Beavers.
While a long season can take its toll on many wrestlers, Matthew Wheeler never seems to have a sub-par tournament.
